  1. Dear Poonam,

It is with great sorrow that I learned of Dicky’s passing and want to give you and your family my condolences.

I remember with pleasure my time spent with you when there with Kim.

You were both so helpful and kind to all of us, creating life long happy memories for everyone that was lucky enough to stay with you both.

I hope that knowing this will bring you comfort.

  2. Hello Sandeep this is Aslam. I’m in Europe. Was devastated to hear about Dicky. My deepest condolences to all of you. Have not called Poonam. Do not know what to even say. He was such a nice guy. One of the handful among my peer group from Allahabad. I wake up every morning thinking of him and the irreplaceable loss for us all 🙁

  3. Dear Poonam,
I’ve typed and deleted this message multiple times. I just don’t know what to say! How to make you and little Nyra feel a little less hurt. I don’t know. Really! I wish I did but sadly..
I’m so sorry for your loss. A loved one’s passing can in no way be made up for, I know exactly what you are feeling now. I cannot offer you any words or advice that would help lessen your pain nor can anyone else. But remember that time heals and you will gradually find comfort in all the happy memories he has left behind. I had the honour of meeting Aditya when my family and I stayed at The Ranthambore Bagh many years ago. Over the years, I have vicariously lived through him the life I always dreamt of – life so passionately dedicated to nature and wildlife. I’ve followed the way you both built your beautiful life in Ranthambore. I have you both in my thoughts and prayers. I pray for strength and courage for you. May the Almighty ease your pain and fill your hearts with sabr. Sending you and Nyra my love. If ever there’s absolutely anything I can do for the both of you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. Lots of love and duas

    Dear Poonam

I read, with shock and sadness , of the passing of “Dickie”. I stayed with you a few years ago. We were disappointed not to meet you ( you were in hospital but doing well we were assured). Your home, staff and everyone we met did all they could to make our stay comfortable and interesting, they achieved that and more. Your husband was a kind man, larger than life in the evening and commanded respect from all.

You wont remember me but I felt strongly the need to share my sorrow and send sincere condolences to you and your daughter.

    Warm regards

  5. Dear Mausi,
I cannot even begin to comprehend what you and Nyra must be going through at this time. The loss is impossibly hard to fathom, it’s devastating and it’s heartbreaking. Dicky mausa was an institution, he was permanent or at least he felt like he was. I vividly recall one of my first meetings with him almost 25 years back when I heard him say to someone, “I don’t tell people how to live and I don’t like to be told how to either”. I was only 16 then but this statement resonated very strongly with me. It felt and still feels like the most important adage to live by. He embodied this fearless, independent spirit which made him appear larger-than-life, which he was but at the same time he was always so welcoming and warm . How quickly it went from meeting Dicky the superstar conservationist and photographer to Dicky the mausa, the friend. Every meeting with him was special and every moment worth cherishing. I was one of those lucky people who got to call him family and I am proud of everything I saw you and him accomplish through these years. I will miss him dearly and forever. There really is no one like him. You and Nyra are in my thoughts and prayers.
    Regards,
